As for europe sales, according to gfk the 360 is a million ahead in europe in the major markets so it is doing well there. As is the wii and is the ps3 before I get accused of being a fanboy.
true, if you mean 2008 sales but going into 2009 the 360 will be outselling the ps3 in the same way it is now which is a huge contrast from January 2008 where the ps3 picked up from the price cut and was outseling the ps3.
Why was the 360 so slow at the beginning of 2008? Well it was the price! The 360 was the oldest console ever to not have a price cut in history (a record just taken by the wii). As a result all the people willing to buy the 360 at its price were gone and sale...

The price cut is mis leading with the figures you put up because although the price cut came in september in Europe ( I think in America too but I could be wrong) this isn't where the majority of console sales come. The 360 has also seen slower growth in the US 2007 vs 2008 because 2007 had halo which blitzed the competition last year (it even outsold the wii for a month) and the 360 has faced much stronger competition for its sales - nintendo are producing just over 2.4 million wii's a month to cure the shortage and sony ...

there were HUGE discounts in store - new dvd's from £3 it was ridiculous. Gears of war 1 was £10 and gears of war 2 was £25. I ended up getting bioshock for £12. Wii controllers were really cheap and many ps3 games were the cheapest i've ever seen. It was awesome value, but sadly it seems everything was this price for a reason :(

these figures are total install base. The ps3 doesn't lead in Europe. And i'd trust these official figures than the ones that come out of your arse anyday.
If the 360 is at 7 million in Europe and 1 million ahead according to these official figures then the ps3 is at 6 million in europe.
Its at 6 million in America according to NPD
Its at 2 million in Japan according to official figures.
That puts the ps3 at 14 million - where are the other 4 million units?
